Do you feel the pressure to change your entire life at the start of a new year? While setting goals is a good thing, we usually try to do too much all at once. What if we simply took one small step instead?

In this episode, I'm sharing a simple process for identifying one small step that can lead to big change.

This Week’s Practice: How to Identify Your One Small Step

  1. Reflect on the person you want to be.

What really matters to you? Where are the gaps between how you’re living NOW and how you WANT to live?

  2. Identify one area of your life where you want to see growth.

Examples: spiritual life, physical health, work, friendships, marriage, parenting, etc.

  3. What do you want this one area of your life to look like?

Describe the big picture of how you want this part of your life to look.

  4. Brainstorm a list of habits or small steps that would help you grow.

Examples: drink half your body weight in water, spend five minutes in silence, practice a daily review, etc.

  5. Pick a small step or habit.

Resist the urge to do it all and just choose one next step.

  6. Put the habit or small step into practice.

Schedule it on your calendar, or even do it right now. Make a plan to actually do it.
